waiting for voting to start at Obosi on Sunday
Registered voters in Obosi, North Idemili Local Government Area have gotten increasingly frustrated by INECs inconsistencies and inadequacies, after the electoral body failed to bring election materials to several polling units.
    Continue.

As at 10:30 a.m. accreditation was yet to begin. At Umuota Primary School, Obosi, voters threatened to boycott the election after only two booths of the four polling units were brought to the station.
Ifeanyi Okafor, a registered voter at Obosi said the delay tactics was a ploy by INEC to rig the election. “INEC does not want us to vote because they want to rig this election and for this reason we want to boycott the election,” he said.

Linda Njirinze, a presiding officer at Obosi Central School said they have been given directive by INEC not to commence election until all polling booths and election materials arrive.

“I preside over unit 015 but I cannot begin accreditation until polling booths 014 and 039 arrive because that is the directive,” she said.
At Obosi Town Hall where ballot boxes were carted away yesterday accreditation has begun amidst heavy security presence. But the voters are not happy with the influx of security men at the polling unit.
“They are scaring us and chasing voters away. All the guns and armoured tanks should be deployed to the North because this election is not a war,” Mrs Grace said.
Election hiccups were experienced in other parts of Idemili North as well.
Victoria Obinwa, Party Agent for APGA believes the election has been free and fair despite the glitches.
She reckons that people should not be apprehensive of the army and policemen because they are trying to ensure peace and order.

Glibe Iweka, All Progressives Congress, party agent told P.M. News that APC voters are fed up with INEC tactics.
“They are trying to frustrate us by delaying election materials and it is getting to our voters who want to boycott the election,” he said.
He noted that the election was not free and fair but peaceful. “Yesterday ballot boxes did not arrive on time and it’s repeating itself today. This cannot be a free and fair election.”

Anambra poll a mockery of democracy, says Ngige

Senator Chris Ngige, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress has indicated that his party will challenge the outcome of the Anambra State governorship elections at the election petition tribunal.

He described the election yesterday as a mockery of democracy.

Ngige who spoke to newsmen at the Old English hotel in Awka said his followers were told to boycott the rescheduled elections in Idemili North.  Ngige accused the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission of systematically rigging the elections in favour of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Chris Ngige at a voting centre Saturday: says poll a mockery of democracy

Ngige who represents Anambra Central in the senate was bitter that voters in his stronghold were not allowed to cast their vote.
“The events of yesterday suggest that INEC has taken three steps backward. We don’t know if Iwu’s INEC is better. We are asking the commission to conduct elections in the 346 polling units and the election should not be held today,” he said.
Ngige was also vexed that the rescheduled election was held a day after the failed election. “If they go ahead to conduct the elections today we are not participating because today is Sunday. And holding the elections today is an affront on Christianity. They are conducting it today because they have a premeditated plan to announce the governor elect today.”
Ngige said that although he and his party had perceived that there would be rigging, they never imagined it would be meted out in such magnitude.
“We are not disappointed because we are used to it. But I weep for Nigeria considering that 2015 is fast approaching. All the fears we raised at the stakeholders forum, happened yesterday. In my strongholds and other parts of the state, there was manipulation of voters register, deleting of names, late arrival of materials among others,” he explained.
Ngige said he will go to tribunal as that is the only option.
“According to the electoral act the only option in the face of this charade is to go to the tribunal. And my party will know what to do in that direction.”
Before the election Ngige had called for the removal of the resident electoral commission, Prof Onukaogu whom he accused of inconsistencies and partiality.
