Will Israel strike Iran?

Israel won't strike Iran – expert

Relations between Israel and the United States might aggravate after the recent breakthrough in negotiations between P5+1 and Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu keeps on stating that his country might act on its own to deal with "wolves in sheep's clothing". Meanwhile, as Mikhail Chlenov, Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, said in an interview with one of our sources Tel Aviv won't dare attacking Tehran.

"I always was in the position of doubting the chances Israel making an armed strike against Iran even, say, a year or a year and a half ago when many people actually expected it. And my opinion was always that these are diplomatic threats actually and not more," Chlenov

He also believes that the diplomatic situation makes it even harder for Israel to act in such a way. Early Sunday world powers agreed on a "first step deal" in Iran's nuclear program.

Tehran commits to halt uranium enrichment above 5 percent and also to neutralize its stockpile of near-20 percent enriched uranium. The Islamic Republic has also committed to halt progress on its enrichment capacity. Iran will also halt work at its plutonium reactor and provide broader access to nuclear sites, and allow spontaneous inspections.

In exchange the United States and its allies agreed to ease a number of economic sanctions.

Iran will also receive access to $4.2 billion billion in foreign exchange as part of the nuclear deal. This money was frozen as one of the financial sanctions imposed on the country over fears that its nuclear program was aimed at producing an atomic bomb.

"I think that of course Iran really has to face stepping stones. The Iranian position is very unique. The problem for Iran is that it cannot go away with an open solution to produce a nuclear bomb, but it cannot go away without a deal, because the situation in Iran's economy is fatal, I would say, is actually very grim," said Vladimir Sotnikov, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for International Security, Institute of World Economy and International Relations.

Barack Obama said that this agreement will "cut off Iran's most likely paths to a bomb" and promised that the US won't implement any new sanctions.

Israel and Saudia Arabia are secretly working together on plans to strike Iran - Media

Israel and Saudia Arabia are secretly working together on plans for a possible attack against Iran in case the Geneva talks fail to roll back its nuclear program, media report citing British paper The Sunday Times.

Continue
The two countries' shared concern has put them at odds with the United States as the latter continues to seek an agreement with Iran to ease economic sanctions in return for pulling back nuclear development.
According to the diplomatic source quoted by the Times, Saudia Arabia has agreed to let Israel use its air space, and assist an Israeli attack by cooperating on the use of drones, rescue helicopters and tanker planes.
Israel's Mossad intelligence agency is reportedly working with Saudi officials to make arrangements following the signing of a nuclear deal in Geneva.
"Once the Geneva agreement is signed, the military option will be back on the table. The Saudis are furious and are willing to give Israel all the help it needs," the Times quoted the source as saying.
Netanyahu is meanwhile appealing to American and French audiences to oppose the proposed agreement with Iran that he believes does not go far enough in pressuring Tehran. Netanyahu said in interview to western TV channel CNN Iran's nuclear program is a direct threat to Israel's survival in an interview that will be broadcast Sunday morning.

French President Francois Hollande lands in Israel Sunday afternoon for his first official visit as president, after receiving accolades from Israeli officials for apparently blocking an agreement with Iran.
A warm welcome is expected for the French leader, who will push home his advantage on Iran by "strongly reiterating" that "Iran's military nuclear program must stop," according to French sources.

Israel urges world powers to not sign fast deal with Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday prompted earth powers to not dash in to signing a "dangerous" deal with Iran.
Netanyahu claimed he talked with the presidents of the United Claims, Russia and France, in addition to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Mark Cameron via phone that weekend.
"I told them that according to all the info that is hitting Israel, the offer in the works is bad and dangerous," he told his cabinet.
It had been "dangerous" because it'd ease the force of the sanctions on Iran "that took decades to build," he explained, while Tehran could remain effective at enriching uranium.

South Africa was chosen by pro-Palestinian activists for the launch of an international lobby seeking the release of 5,000 Palestinian political prisoners, including veteran leader Marwan Barghouti currently in Israeli detention.

The campaign was kicked off on October 25 at Robben Island, the former prison where anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela served 18 of his 27 years in jail.
"The Palestinian search for self determination remains unfulfilled," said South Africa's top diplomat.
Considering that the fall of the whites-only apartheid regime in 1994, South Africa has been an outspoken critic of Israel, although it maintains diplomatic ties with the Jewish state.
